This Year in Beetle Bros! 2021 Year End Recap

Hey there beetle brats, buds, and ballers! We hope you all had a great holiday season wherever you are and however you celebrate! To keep the holiday spirit going the Bros decided we would take this week off from our regular content and instead bring you something a bit different for the end of 2021. We’d like to reminisce with you all through our exploits and explorations this past year! So join us for this mini deep dive into the past 12 months of Beetle Bro adventures!

We launched into 2021 with a strong opener, scanning and uploading the Big Bad Beetleborgs Style Guide used on set during production. This book had somehow made it to a film memorabilia collection in Italy when Cam snagged it and released it for everyone to get a look at. We even confirmed with Gabe Torres that this book (or a version of it) was always available when he was directing episodes! The Style Guide has been a great resource for show art and fans everywhere have gotten a kick out of the early comic book style renders of the Magnavores and Beetleborgs!

This year end recap wouldn’t be anything if we didn’t mention the biggest move of all. Shortly after joining Project Louder in late 2020 the Bros finally made the full RSS move to the PL Network! Solidifying our new home alongside so many amazing content creators that we have loved working with for over a year now.

Speaking of working with other creators, Pod Swap 2021 back in February was our first crossover with folks other than TJ! Comics & Kaijus took over an episode of Beetle Bros and we covered the cult classic Monster Squad for an episode of Gore N More for a fun twist of hosting and boasting. It was crossovers like this that have inspired the Bros to appear on episodes of other network shows or even join as full time cohosts (see Nik in Lights, Camera, Exploitation!).

All of these crossovers and bonus episodes ran right alongside the second major event in season one, The Train to Borgslayer! Borgslayer was the grand finale villain of season one and something we had looked forward to for most of 2020, we even made a killer metal band logo for the occasion! This marked the launch into Beetleborgs Metallix and our new season began! To celebrate the season finale we even launched a new acrylic pin set featuring our chibi Magnavore Monster Menagerie designs.

The biggest and probably most significant thing we did (both as podcast crew and as friends) was our road trip to Hillhurst! In July we took our crew on the road and drove all the way from Kansas City to Santa Paula and back, crossing Death Valley, surviving a night in Vegas, and of course visiting the locations of Charterville and Hillhurst! We had some great times, some challenging times, and made memories that will last forever.

As 2020 cooled down we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the premiere of Big Bad Beetle Bros with our fans and listeners. These last few months we have started diving into more live streamed and video content, we sent out our first ever postcards, and we have so much more in store for 2022! The Bros cannot wait to see everyone in the New Year and hope you all continue to enjoy this show as much as we enjoy making it!
