Vader Dark Visions #2 (Comic Review)

In this week's issue of Vader: Dark Visions we see the terror of one Imperial Officer as he does everything he can to avoid the cost of failure: Lord Vader.

Star Wars - Vader: Dark Visions Issue 2

The issue picks up with a Rebel and his protocol droid making great haste in their U-Wing to escape a Star Destroyer. They make the jump to lightspeed and leave the Imperials in the dust. The commander of the Star Destroyer is none too happy despite not losing a single Imperial life and destroying a Rebellion base the Commander is not satisfied but recognizes he's tuned in a good performance.

The commander is later seen in his quarters sipping on Caff when he is told that Darth Vader is inbound to collect the Rebel spy and congratulate the Commander. We then see a flash back or the Commander witnessing the massacre of officers who had failed the Dark Lord. Vader leaves him saying “Failure is unacceptable….be better than they were.”

Commander Tylux flies into a frenzy to find and capture the rebel. Following a rash jump to lightspeed the Imperials find themselves in an asteroid belt. Tylux then scrambles all of the TIE Fighters to hunt down the spy. The spy uses the asteroids and his own finesse to fight back the TIEs. With the fear of Vader closing tighter around him Tylux orders the Star Destroyer to pass through the asteroids.

As the Destroyer begins to be pummeled by the belt he sees the U-Wing fly into a Space Slug. They fly through its mouth, ripping it apart and are then set upon by the Rebel Fleet that blasts the Destroyer apart as Tylux orders his crew to abandon ship as he goes down with his craft. As he fades in and out of consciousness in the debris of his Star Destroyer, Tylux is awoken by the sound of footsteps. “Failure is unacceptable.”, says Vader as he takes his lightsaber off of his belt and Tylux is shown the price of failure.

This issue of Dark Visions, though it doesn't live up to the grandioso and over the top action or the irony of circumstances in the last issue, this one is very exciting and compelling as well. The art and action continues to he beautiful and well choreographed. I give Vader: Dark Visions Issue 2 a 3.75/5.
