Battlefront 2 March Update: Too Little Too Late?

I will skip the intro on how Battlefront 2 started, because that has seen plenty of coverage. The next update will finally bring some light to the galaxy far far away, with the complete overhaul of the star cards. No longer will you have to buy elaborate gambling crates to level up your classes with the help of RNGreedo.

"From March 21st you’ll earn experience points for the classes, hero characters, and ships that you choose to play in multiplayer. If you earn enough experience points to gain a level for that unit, you'll receive one Skill Point that can be used to unlock or upgrade the eligible Star Card you'd like to equip.
All progress you have gotten so far will still be unlocked, so nothing is lost. Crates will only drop credits or cosmetic items.
Then in April skins are added to the store, and can be directly purchased with either earned credits or bought crystals."

So we're getting part of what the game should have been on launch. Is this going to be enough to draw players (back) in?

For me it will not have much impact. I play when I feel like playing, and I only really love Starfighter Assault and full party Heroes vs Villains. Sure the cosmetics are fun, but for me there aren't enough gamemodes to enjoy. For me it was more a case of too little too early, because I find the shooter too bland and individual.

Sure, a lot of people have taken a stance against the RNGreedo, and will not give in simply because EA did the right thing after we didn't accept their initial poodoo.
Lots of people who initially didn't care about the lootbox travesty, got sick of the lootcrates really quickly, and others got bored because there was no skin customization and a shortage of gamemodes. Many people didn't buy the game at all because of the crap EA tried to pull.
A lot of these players just want the game to be better, and when they see that it is they'll come (back) onboard. Actually a friend of mine messaged me that he has bought the game this week, because of this announcement. So yes; I expect to see a noticable increase in activity. If they stay around will depend on how enjoyable the new progression system is.
