Mara Jade in Episode IX??

There is a rumor spreading like wildfire out of Disney and Lucasfilm headquarters that the notorious wife of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker is to make an appearance in the last film of the trilogy. These rumors have been created due to casting information being released from the two major corporations indicating they are searching to cast a female lead that is between the ages of 40-50 years old, who will portray a character named ‘Mara’.

In the vast expanded universe of Star Wars, Mara Jade was first introduced by author, Timothy Zahn in his book Heir to the Empire. Mara was a force-sensitive assassin for Emperor Palpatine. Soon after the death of the Sith Lord, Mara turned to the light side of the force and married Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. Together they had a child named, Ben Skywalker. In the current films, Luke appears to have no children of his own, and Disney changed Han and Leia to having only one child named, Ben Solo.

Fans are already grappling this information and coming to theoretical conclusions indicating the possibility of Mara actually being Rey’s mother, or possibly a new leader in the Rebel Alliance. She might not even be Mara Jade. For all we know they might just be casting a new character that just happens to have the first name, Mara. No further information has been released regarding the details behind this ‘Mara’ character Disney and Lucasfilm intend to cast.
