Director & Working Title Revealed For Obi-Wan Movie

According to a recent article by TMZ, the official title of the spinoff is Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story. It is also stated that it will be filmed under the working title “Joshua Tree” and it will be filmed in London at the studio where the Last Jedi was filmed. Return of the Jedi was also filmed under a code-name, which was “Blue Harvest”. TMZ also stated that Stephen Daldry would direct the Obi-Wan movie. Daldry is responsible for directing The Hours, Billy Elliot, and the TV series The Crown.

There is a small synopsis of the Obi-wan movie that was leaked and it reads… “Obi-wan is on Tatooine being an elusive hermit and stuff, but secretly watches over an infant Luke Skywalker, whom he delivered to his uncle, Owen. Tensions between the local farmers and a tribe of Sand People—headed by a ruthless war chief—eventually brings Obi outta hiding… and into Jedi kickass mode. Scene.”

Unfortunately, there is no confirmation on Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Master Kenobi. In a recent interview with media when Ewan was asked about reprising the role of Kenobi he stated, “I’d be happy to play him again, but I don’t know anymore about it than you do. There’s no plan at the moment.” Ewan has just finished working on the new Christopher Robin movie and also stated he’s looking for a new story to direct. McGregor is becoming another actor who has fallen in love with directing. You can’t really blame him. After years of receiving orders from other directors that he has worked with, now he gets to give the orders and create a film in his own image.

Plans to start filming Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story begin Spring of 2019. Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to be released May 25, 2018. Episode IX is set to be released December 20, 2019.
