Vengeance Finishes Filming, Post Production Begins

The upcoming film ‘Friday the 13th: Vengeance’ has finished filming. Work has officially begun on post production, and the film is slated for a June 2019 release. Peter Anthony (Social Media Manager & Associate Producer) uses the phrase “More than a fan film.”, which was coined by Steve Dash during the filming. With all the talent signed on for this project, I can see why. I have been following this film for a while now, and I have done multiple interviews with the cast and crew. Everyone involved in this project is heavily invested in creating a top tier product for the fans. There are various Friday the 13th alumni involved in the film as well including the late Steve Dash, CJ Graham, and Tom McLoughlin.

With the film nearing completion, we can only wait and see what they have in store for us. We have gotten to see a lot of photos from behind the scenes on the film. Social media has really played a very big part in this film’s production. There are daily posts made to their fan page, with plenty of fans engaging and becoming a part of the conversation. It’s really cool, to me, that a film and its crew are so involved with their fans and supporters. I recently got to speak with Cory Coffman (Graphic Design & Actor) on Vengeance. I asked him about the film and what it was like on the set of Vengeance?

“Being involved with the graphics design and marketing materials for Friday the 13th Vengeance, I honestly didn't see myself getting a chance to make it to a set. But the chance was given to me not only to experience the filming but I had a chance to be involved and sure enough live the dream (or in this case die hahaha). Arriving to meet the cast and crew of Vengeance was a little overwhelming. Going to the set on day 1 and seeing nearly 60 plus people all over the place discussing, working setting cameras, props makeup, wardrobe, and its was only about 6am or so with the fog still rolling over the lake. I ended up finding the "prisoner: group I was going to be a part of and next thing I all knew we were getting into character and having a hell of a time meeting and introducing ourselves as our "characters" . The amount of organization was in great supply on this set. We got ready for our morning shots and got introduced to the film crew, the special effects crew and all the coordinators and team that would guide us in the filming. Although the morning went long we were surrounded by folks that kept a great vibe alive and furthermore made this experience enjoyable. When smoke and blood effects started rolling into the scenes in the middle part of the day and Jason Brooks in full blown JASON mode swinging a machete it started getting even more exciting and serious. Multiple takes were necessary to work through a few viewing angles of the scene on hand and proper direction effects and camera work all went into making this an epic scene that I certainly know fans will enjoy. Its was great for the "prisoners" at the end of that scene to be invited over to watch the takes in their entirety. I stood there not only watching the monitor but every single Prisoner actor's face light up and the excitement of seeing what we worked on come to live on film. Its hard to describe that kind of overwhelming surprise and satisfaction when its was nothing short of instant gratification of what we accomplished. Better timing wasn't more marked then lunch being announced right after that. The discussion amongst the whole team of 60 plus have great food, and discussing what was just done while the prisoners (still covered in blood) fed their faces lol. A few short moments later dusk started rolling in and we knew we were gearing up for our nightcap if you will. Filming another scene to wrap up this particular part of the film. This scene consisting of a combination of prisoners (us) playing dead for a couple of hours. We helped direct a couple counties worth of squad cars from surrounding police precincts onto set to help set the tone and both actors and real officers setting up a scene that was pure "aftermath" . We stuck it out on the cold ground and made sure we played as dead as dead could be. Have wrapped in body bags, blood. Fog rolling in. Multiple vehicles flashing the "berries and cherries" and creating nothing short of a typical homicide investigation on a BIG scale. Again after all the takes were done the instant gratification to allow all the actors to see what had been done was pure joy. with more folks on set playing multiple rolls everything ended that day with smiles and the eagerness to relax. The next day for me was filled with great stories and the task of working on props, set dressings, amongst other pieces to set up for more scenes to be filmed later in the weeks ahead. A small group of us worked in perfect overcast Seattle weather and took New things and weathered them to seemingly 30 plus year old shells of what they use to be in a sense. I could talk for days about the experiences I made in a short amount of time being on set. But to know this many people donated their time, energy, and love to a project for all the right reasons was overwhelming. What developed before my eyes on set made me rethink my everyday job and question what i would love to do for a living. After returning home I continued working on new marketing pieces additional props and new content for social media. with a refreshing idea of what this project was and about I became even more eager to infuse that into the work for Friday the 13th Vengeance. I can’t wait to share these experiences with fans like myself and furthermore give the fans a product they deserve.”

You can expect the perks to start being delivered soon and the DVDs and Blu-Ray’s to arrive after the film’s release. So all you backers out there, be on the lookout for your perks. There is a lot of hype surrounding this film, and I can’t wait to see what the end product is going to be like. With all the fan films being crafted, it really is a great time to be a Friday The 13th Fan. Be sure to checkout Friday the 13th Vengeance when it releases this summer.
