Did Dave Filoni Hint That He's Taking Over?
In the past couple of months, there has been a lot of uproar in the Star Wars fandom. A general vote of no-confidence in Kathleen Kennedy has many speculate about the future of Star Wars. One of the popular picks to replace her, is Dave Filoni. So an interview he did recently revealed something very interesting.
"Resistance is a bit different, in that I'm not on that day-to-day. I created and set it in motion, but I’ve given that to other people to raise up, people that I’ve worked with a long time, who I think deserve the opportunity to tell stories and I think it’s exciting, and I give them my thoughts and notes – I was just doing that this morning, like George [Lucas] would give me. So that’s fun." - Filoni
As the director of both the Clone Wars and Rebels series many people have a lot of faith in his capabilities, and to learn that he is not that heavily involved with Resistance is disappointing. At least: at first glance. But when you take into account the rumors that Kathleen Kennedy is on her way out, and Dave Filoni is thé best pick to replace her (for Head of Creative) then this news can actually be taken optimistically. In order to have more control over other projects, he needs to take a little distance from Resistance. He just can't do what he did with both other shows and also take on directive control of everything else. So here's hoping that at least some of these rumors are true.
