My Journey With Ahsoka Tano

Let me preface by saying: Ahsoka Tano is one of my favorite SW characters, if not maybe, my favorite. I have no doubt of this. There’s so much to her character and her story was told brilliantly. However, she never totally captivated me as a character at first, but my journey with her took a different path to her becoming my one of my favorite characters, not the usual route with most.

The usual route I’ve seen most fans go is that they were first introduced to her in the 2008 Clone Wars movie, where she was also first introduced. Most fans didn’t take a liking to her at first in the film and probably during the first few episodes of the Clone Wars TV series, but as the series progressed and viewers spent more time with Ahsoka and saw her develop, most came to adore her as a character by the end. When Rebels came around, her character was deepened and the fanbase, for the most part, just fell in love with her. That’s the usual path I’ve seen with how most people fell in love with Ahsoka as a character. My path was a bit different.
While I was also introduced to her in the Clone Wars film, I took a liking to her easily. However, when it came to the TV series, I never really noticed or cared to notice her, as I focused on the main characters such as Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme, among others. The other part was that I was more interested in the battles and flashy saber duels than the characters and their development throughout the series. However, when Rebels came out, I was pumped for Ahsoka to be back even though I never really delved into her character but knew about the love she received from the fanbase.

After seeing her in Rebels and how awesome she was, I was curious as to how she got to this point during the Clone Wars, but the catalyst for seeing her character development from TCW to Rebels was when I started to converse with fans who loved Ahsoka. One of the biggest and most notable Ahsoka fans I chatted was Daniel Leahy, a fellow TAOSWF Admin. Hearing as to why he loves Ahsoka so much, among others, really prompted me to rewatch the Clone Wars series, with the coincidental announcement of Clone Wars Season 7 also prompting me to rewatch it, so I killed two birds with one stone in my rewatch. So how did it go?

Let me tell you; After watching all 6 seasons, I completely understand why so many Star Wars fans adore Ahsoka Tano. I won’t give an exhaustive list as to why, just a few pointers. She is shown to fail and redeem herself after those failures, a true test of her character and willingness to succeed as Anakin’s padawan and not just prove him right, but herself as well. She is also very skilled with a lightsaber and can handle herself in many tough situations that she’s put in during the series. Other than those few reasons, I would implore you to find out for yourself why she’s beloved from others, heck, even ask me if you so desire, but I would beseech to whoever’s reading this to watch the Clone Wars TV series and focus on Ahsoka and her development, then to watch Rebels to see how her character is deepened, because she is one of the greatest Star Wars characters ever conceived and developed and has touched many fans, including myself.
