Titans - Season 1 Episode 3 (Review)

Episode 3 of the series I am beginning to love more and more definitely does not disappoint. The episode shifts focus away from Robin, but towards Star-Fire and Raven. I personally am not a big fan of Star-Fire in this show, mainly because they made her powers fire-based instead of alien energy/lazer-based.

This action-packed episode shows how Star-Fire has been searching for Raven, then finding her early on and rescuing her from the evil “family” that kidnapped her. We also learn more about the psychotic family and why they are chasing Raven.

As I said before, I am not a big fan of Star-Fire in this show, but the talented actress does very well with what she was given. Proof of this is shown by how perfectly she executes the role of somebody who woke up one day with absolutely no memory.

The show also takes the time to cover the origin of Robin in the form of flashbacks. IT shows a young Dick Grayson who wants revenge on the people who murdered his family. Bruce Wayne takes Dick in and tries to show him a different path, but this alternate path seems darker than just plain revenge. Dick Grayson runs away from Wayne Manor many times with the hopes of finding his parents’ murderer.

Overall the Episode was decent, and I hope to see more, including some insight into Ravens mysterious background with her father. This show has deviated with the comics in a way that was still interesting and I can’t wait to see what they do with it.
