Titans - Season 1 Episode 4 (Review)
Most of you have no clue how much I love this episode. We get an extended look at Beast Boy and the Doom Patrol. We see some of Beast Boy’s origins as well as more clues into Raven’s past. But most importantly we get Robotman, played by my favorite mummy-killing badass; Brendan Fraser.
The opening to this episode features a sick Beast Boy somewhere in the congo, before a mysterious doctor in a hazmat suit appears and gives him an injection, turning his skin green. Although in the comics and original animated series Beast Boy could transform into any animal he wanted, in this show he only knows how to turn into a tiger so far.
In his Tiger form, Beast Boy saves raven from some crazy nuns who drugged and kidnapped her. While Beast Boy was sliding into the DMs, a couple of hunters shot a deer. Raven and Beast Boy went to scare away the hunters, where Raven instantly begins to hold the dying deer to comfort it. Later in the episode, it reveals that Raven brought the deer back to life and fully healed it.
Beast Boy takes Raven back to the mansion where the doom patrol live. It is here that we get our first look at the group before the upcoming show; Doom Patrol. While I am not going to go in detail on every member, I would like to talk about Brendan Fraser as Robotman. I feel like he nails the voice and the persona of a man who can no longer experience the feeling of being a Human.
I absolutely love this episode, I don’t know which highlight I loved more; Beast Boy, Robotman, or Brendan Fraser dropping the F-bomb. This show is getting better and better each episode, and I cannot wait for more.
