New Book & Film 'Snow Falls' Coming Soon
There is an upcoming book from writer and actor Julia Valenti called ‘Snow Falls’. It follows the story of a combat veteran named Alyson Snow who suffers from PTSD. She has a mental breakdown and loses everything. After a year of therapy, she starts to rebuild and meets her new neighbor, Miles Fossler. Everything seems fine until she starts getting suspicious of his behavior. People begin to end up dead and Miles's stories no longer make sense. She begins to think that he is a serial killer but nobody believes her. Alyson decides to take care of it herself and prove that he is indeed who she suspects him to be.
Also there is a film being created based on the book starring Julia Valenti, Ray Hopper, Jason Brooks, Jason Reynolds, Tabitha Bastien, Morgen Johnson, and Janae Knauss. We have a few shots from the filming of the movie in the slideshow below.
I got the chance to ask Julia about the writing process of the book. She says “I started 'Snow Falls' when I was deployed in Germany. It originally started out as a pure war story... still centering around PTSD but then I thought, well, there are a lot of PTSD war stories out there, why don't I make it a bit different? So I came up with the character of Miles Fossler, who is the main antagonist played and is played by Ray Hopper in our upcoming short (and soon to be feature). So rather than having my main character, Alyson Snow, deal with her demons overseas, I thought about having her face them at home. So many veterans come home with PTSD and it’s never talked about. So I combined that with a twist of 'Fatal Attraction' meets 'Disturbia' meets 'Se7en' - and here we arrive at 'Snow Falls'. I can't summarize in words how this story is going to develop, but I promise you, it will keep you guessing and guessing until the very last page.“. I also got to ask her co-star Ray Hopper about his experience on the set of Snow Falls. He responded with “So far Snow Falls has been exhilaratingly fun! Physically and emotionally brutal, yet rewarding. Every single person on set has the professional mindset and skills to make this over-the-top awesome. Literally everyone. I prefaced our trip from Seattle to Philadelphia by saying “Next week is gonna be filled with ridiculously long days with short breaks and/or none at all. Everything has to be absolutely streamlined...which means everyone is going to be wearing multiple hats; PA/AD/transportation/errand runner/set design, etc.” And they all stepped up. Everyone. Such a powerful story written by Julia and captured by the Suwanchote brothers, Note and Nuk, with Isaac Gutierrez handling the majority of the camera work. I can’t wait to finish promoting her book with this trailer/short film and I’m eagerly anticipating the feature and subsequent work with this entire cast and crew. Special thanks to Julia Valenti and her family for their unwavering dedication and gracious hospitality.“. This book is going to be an amazing read, and the fact that it explores mental health in today's society is absolutely incredible. Julia writes about stuff that a lot of people are afraid to touch on, this exhilarating story will hopefully help stop the mental health stigma. I personally can’t wait for the book to release this November and for everyone to see this feature film. Be sure to check the Snow Falls facebook page to stay up to date on the upcoming book and film.
