'Jason Rising' Trailer Reminds Us We're All Doomed!

There are so many Friday the 13th fan films these days it's easy to get lost in the mix. Let's be honest, most of them won't be worth a damn, but with that being said one stands out above the rest. Jason Rising sure brings the heat with this new trailer. Dropping on a very special day the team over at Red Crow Films couldn’t have timed it better. 

  My initial thoughts on this trailer are that it’s extremely well paced and looks cinematic as fuck. The trailer starts off with beautiful shots of Camp Crystal Lake and a very well acted female voiceover. We then see a young Pamela sitting on the edge of a dock crying over a bloody machete, followed by a fun audio cue that transitions into that badass undead Pamela hand shot we saw in promo pictures. Again this trailer really does a great job establishing we are at the camp and the quick shot of headless Pamela walking around definitely helps set the scene. The coloring on the footage adds to the creepy atmosphere and highlights the blood in such a marvelous way. Dan Kyle as Jason Voorhees is terrifying. If the first trailer didn’t give you that notion this one definitely will. We get more cuts of action scenes and snippets of dialogue that tease us with a story. The trailer ends with Jason grabbing an inmate by the hair as she crawls in terror through a marsh. 

The editing and sound design on this thing really makes it something great. You can tell that this film was made by people who know what they are doing, true professionals with a love for the franchise. James Sweet and Karl Whinnery did a terrific job with the cinematography and I can't wait to see how that translates to the full film.  I can see this film being as popular as other great fan films like Never Hike In The Snow and Friday the 13th Vengeance.
