Indie Horror 'Hideout' Says No One Can Hide Forever (Trailer)
Well color me intrigued, I may not be able to pinpoint that HIDEOUT is a great movie as of yet because I obviously haven't seen it, but the Trailer did everything it could to indicate just that and let's be honest, this is at a time when we need GREAT movies with COVID not being to kind to the movie going audience, but we aren't here for the negativity, we are here to talk about just how kick ass this trailer was.
Hideout is a really solid and well put together Trailer, they give you "just" enough of what's to come from what looks to be quite the thrilling ride, which is quite refreshing in a day and age where Trailers give away the entire movie it seems.
It is quite admirable these days when you can get a Trailer that can sell you on a film in spades with just giving you the tip of the iceberg, now we may not know what's underneath quite yet, but I'm anxious to see what's under there and it looks sure to hit.
We have a fairly simple opening with 2 girls engaging in conversation about whether one believes in god or the devil or not and we shift to some kind of robbery gone wrong, which then leads to them shacking up with what they feel are normal people in a "Hideout" if you will.
Sure we've seen this kind of thing before, but judging from what the Trailer gave us it would appear director Kris Roselli, put a unique spin on it and due to only showing us the flavor of the movie, it would also appear that it oozes potential for originality that, let's face it, we just don't get enough of anymore.
Beyond just the look of the film, there looks to be serviceable enough acting which is no small feat for Horror films, as most Horror films don't care about that department, I didn't see Oscar performances in the Trailer, but I damn sure didn't see a movie that had me eye rolling with bland or over the top acting either, so this was definitely a positive for me.
The music really gripped me, the scary music worked wonders, but there was also a unique change of pace at the 1:04 mark of the Trailer where I will call " off kilter" music played, the kind of music that sounds like it has no right to be in a Horror movie Trailer, but somehow works in ways that words can't quite describe, I especially have a soft spot for that kind of thing when it is pulled off correctly and here I can safely confirm that it was.
Also, there isn't much, but there is a few quick scenes of what appears to be very disturbing imagery for you gorehounds, that peaked my interest quite a bit. For me personally, the 58 Second mark has me wondering what I just laid my eyes on ever so briefly and sticking on the imagery side of things, there seems to be a good bit of atmosphere in here, like the fog around the house and the guy behind the camera seems to just have a overall good feel on how to frame shots in general.
Overall I wasn't completely blown away by the Trailer, but I rarely ever am, what this Trailer did do however, is give me confidence that we may have a great Horror film on the way and I'm glad that they elected to keep it more vague, as I am now interested in seeing just what direction this movie goes in.
HIDEOUT doesn't appear to be your standard Home Invasion flick, it definitely appears that there is something else lurking in the shadows here and I honestly can't wait to find out what that something is.
