Critters: A New Binge (Review)
The Crites are back at it again. Pretty much picking up where the series left off. The Critters return to Earth searching for a lost friend that was left behind. They land in Burbank and soon torment a group of high-schoolers and their families.
This time the Crites lean more into comedy. While they have always been funny, the series takes it to a new level. Giving them more dialogue. And for the most part it works. But with all the great Special Effects and the homages to the 80s. The series falls short. They try to hard to humanize the Crites. And it just doesn’t work. I like my Crites vengeful and scary, not stand up comedians, with bad language. The characters are dull and one dimensional, but then again it’s a 80s homage. I don’t have a problem with the episodes being short, I found that after the 2nd episode they get boring.
If you are a fan of the original critters you may just like this, but it is however not for everyone.
