Derrick Rose to the Pistons
One of the best stories of last year (if not the best) presses onward with Derrick Rose as he continues to show perseverance in the best ways possible and we all marvel and can't help but root for the guy.
In the next stop in Derrick Rose's journey we find him in Detroit. Derrick Rose a guy that we thought was all but done going into last year after multiple ACL injuries and averaging a lowly 5 points a game is back and in a big way.
He had not only shocked us all with a career game last year with the Wolves he also came back with a vengeance for the entirety of the year proving to be a formidable foe to defenses in his newly found role as 6th man.
The former MVP relished in the role increasing his scoring output by 13 points and it'll be interesting to see if he can only build on that with his new team or if it was only a flash in the pan season we can at least all cherish for the star that caught a few too many unfortunate breaks in the league after early successes.
Now obviously it's too early to define what his role is especially with Reggie Jackson being at the helm still but there's been all kinds of rumors of them wanting to move on from Jackson for a while now anyways but a 1 2 punch off the bench could prove to be the best situation for Rose still.
Just because he looked like someone who seemed to deserve more minutes with a new and improved 3 point shot that came out of nowhere doesn't mean you need to promote him to the starting lineup. Maybe this is just his role now and there's nothing wrong with that as you see players like Carmelo who can't swallow their pride long enough to find a role like that on any team.
Point is Rose is in a good place mentally and physically and we're all cheering him on whether he's in the starting lineup or not. Let's not get too greedy and enjoy that he's on the Pistons and if it turns into a starting role with him playing EVEN stronger then it can be even more of a surprise then his 6th man campaign last year.
Whether it's newly found starter or 6th man behind Jackson or someone else we will all feel more than happy to cheer this guy on. From potential future face of the league to catastrophe, America likes a good redemption story and Rose looks to paint more of a picture for us on that story in a Detroit Pistons Jersey next year.
Derrick Rose averaged 18.0 PPG, 4.3 APG and 2.7 RPG off the bench
